A paradise lies less than five hours away from Hong Kong by air. In August, Indonesia reimplemented its short visit visa-free policy for Hong Kong passport holders—a long awaited change which brings Indonesia even closer to Hong Kong citizens. From the everpopular Bali to up-and-coming destinations such as Labuan Bajo and Lake Toba, there are many wonderful facets of Indonesia waiting to be discovered.
For those who hasn’t gotten the chance to experience Indonesia in person, worry not—Indonesia Week Hong Kong 2024 is bringing a slice of Indonesia to Hong Kong on 1 – 3 November 2024. This three-day event is gearing up to be one of the biggest events celebrating Indonesia in Hong Kong in over a decade, featuring a business forum on its first day as well as a cultural festival on its second and third day.
The business forum, under the theme “Navigating the New Landscape and Future Opportunities in Southeast Asia's Largest Economy”, will be held on 1 November 2024 at Conrad Hotel Hong Kong. It will feature two panel discussions with an array of expert speakers from Indonesia and Hong Kong discussing Indonesia’s economic potentials, as well as an investment clinic and a business forum. Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, Hon. John Lee, and Indonesia’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Djauhari Oratmangun, will give their remarks to open the event.
Those interested in Indonesian food and culture are more than welcome to join the festivities at Wan Chai Harbourfront on 2 – 3 November 2024, where the Indonesian festival will be held. There, isitors can enjoy an array of Indonesian delicacies, take part in cultural workshops, and enjoy performances of traditional dances and music without having to take a single step out of Hong Kong. On 3 November, popular pop artists Yovie Widiyanto and his son Arsy Widiyanto, as well as beloved dangdut singers Rara and Hari, will grace the stage, inviting everyone to sing and dance along.
